There are also companies that have both an internal it staff and an msp, where the msp is tasked with general support and the internal staff is tasked with translating between the msp and the rest of the company at times, or the internal staff work with the msp to resolve issues. There are a lot of companies out there who honestly don't need an internal it staff if they have an msp managing their systems. Kaseya is typically used my msp companies (managed service provider) and the remote support is common but onsite support is also usually offered (sometimes for an additional charge). It's very likely that Kaseya is just that company's way of getting remote desktop access to machines on the network which then allows them to use other tools directly from the agents and assess the network more thoroughly.

It sounds like you were not consulted with this software installation. We have plenty of clients that use this as an additional tool to augment their daily workload and still maintain the same number of IT staff. You may not get access to everything, but at the least they should be able to give you access to remote control and look at some info. If you are interested in gaining access to this system, the 3rd party that installed the software has the ability to provide user accounts to your environments deployment. Those are just some of the things you can do with this software. You can monitor network devices via SNMP and the network monitor for issues on your network. You can run reports on just about any of those metrics. These can help identify issues before the end users realize something is wrong. You can alert for specific or all Error/Warning/Informational event IDs. On that not you can scrape logs and look for alerts. Pretty much anything that the windows performance monitor can see this can as well.
